(Introduction/Translation) 'It took several years of careful experimentation before we were convinced that our "Neue Haas-Grotesk" was ready to be cut, cast and published. That time has now come. In our joy about the successful work, the beauty of which we had certified by leading experts, we decided to make a very special effort: publication of a so-called typeface glue book for all those who have to dispose of typeset parts in drafts; i.e. advertising consultants, graphic designers, large companies with their own advertising agencies, etc.

We know that such a facility in this rich and practical form has hitherto been lacking, although there was a great need for it. Anyone who has to assume a large number of typefaces in drafts, some of which are larger, but would like to save themselves the trouble of lining in pencil or ink, knows the advantages of typesetting of the type available here. From the Neue Haas-Grotesk we have had all grades from 4-48 points deducted and subtracted, from the semi-bold and bold garnish all grades from 6-72 points and from the italic grades 5-24 points.'
