(Introduction) 'You have in your hands the catalogue of The Most Beautiful Swiss Books 2010, designed by Aude Lehmann. The star of the catalogue is the book, and we have rolled out a little red carpet for each of the nineteen award-winning titles. No two of these books are alike, and many new and young designers have been added to the roster. The choice of these particular nineteen books as the 'Most Beautiful' is of course a subject for potential debate. During their three-day meeting in late January 2011, the five-member jury deliberated over 391 submissions. The jury evaluated each book's overall concept, graphic design and typography, and paid particular attention to innovation and originality. Further criteria include the quality of the printing and the cover, the binding and the materials used. The evaluation process is no easy task, and the jury takes a meticulous approach, during which the entries are continuously sorted, ranked, discussed and debated, until the quintessence of a year's worth of Swiss bookmaking has been distilled...'
