(Preface) 'We're not going to pretend this book is something it isn't.
It's not a lengthy thesis over-intellectualising what we do for a living (although a great deal of thought has gone into the work on the following pages). Nor is it a thinly veiled sales tool designed to peddle our wares (although we certainly won't complain if it persuades you to get in touch).
This book is a thank-you letter to design. Twenty years after Rose started we feel very fortunate to still be doing what we love. And this book is a simple, unapologetic celebration of that fact. It's a fairly extensive (but far from complete) overview of some of our finest, commercially successful work from the last two decades. Many of the projects have won multiple awards; all have involved amazing collaborators.
In many ways, the book is also a grown-up version of our earliest portfolios (one that's, happily, far easier to transport). From the beginning, we have obsessed over the quality of ideas and the detail of executions. We hope a visual stroll through the work will show that this care and attention have been with us at every step.
Finally, in the absence of more erudite explanations, we will leave the individual pieces of work to speak for themselves.' Garry Blackburn and Simon Elliott, Rose, September 2019
