(Introduction) 'This publication combines revised editions of two companion booklets originally produced in 1973 by the British Tourist Authority, the National Tourist Boards of England, Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland, the Tourist Board of the Republic of Ireland, the Countryside Commission and the Countryside Commission for Scotland*, for the use of publishers of maps, guide books and other publications directed at providing information for tourists. This second edition is in two parts. Part One illustrates symbols which may be used in the preparation of accommodation guides, guides to camping and caravanning facilities and maps. Part Two contains items suitable for indicating countryside recreation facilities in England and Wales. Advice on symbols for countryside recreation in Scotland, which are under review, should be sought from the Countryside Commission for Scotland at Battleby, Redgorton, Perth PH1 3EW...'
