(Preface)'Use Hearing Protection: FAC 1-50 / 40' an exhibition concept co-curated by Jon Savage and Mat Bancroft in partnership with Warner Music UK. The exhibition was first shown at Chelsea Space, London in autumn 2019. The new content development of 'Use Hearing Protection: The early years of Factory Records' was carried out by the Science and Industry Museum with the support of Jon Savage and Mat Bancroft, and Stuart Wheeley at Warner Music UK.

(Introduction) 'This catalogue itemises the first fifty Factory artefacts in numerical order, FAC 1-FACT 50. They begin with Peter Saville's first poster for the Factory Club in June 1978 and end with his design for the first New Order album, Movement, released in November 1981. The numbering didn't always function in date order, as things got out of sequence, and so the latest entry date wise is FAC 48, Kevin Hewitt's single Ophelia's Drinking Song. from May 1982. All of this happened within four years.'
