(Introduction) 'The 26th year of the Brno Biennial is different, in both its concept and content. The organisers have opted for the curator's model, with three external curators (but also renowned graphic designers) responsible for this year's Biennial: Radim Pesko, Adam Machácek and Tomás Celizna. Up to now, the international exhibition of graphic design has always featured the work of prominent graphic artists and designers, and the competition was open to all. This year's Biennial has replaced this model with emphasis on the period of studies and approaches to teaching: the main subject of the Brno Biennial 2014 is education in the field of graphic design. It presents the results of an extraordinarily comprehensive exploration of the school environment that, as we all know, shapes students' opinions, and as such also graphic design. The subject is viewed from different angles, for example, those of students, teachers and individual schools. The 26th Brno Biennial sets out to outline the existing approaches, as well as novel paths in the teaching of graphic design. The objective is not to present the outcome of the creative process but to concentrate on the process itself and the context, enabling a new and more comprehensive view on education and graphic design.
