Mediamatic Magazine – Exquisite 20th century media and art publication. Mediamatic was founded in 1983 as a meeting place for media, television and video artists, intellectuals and scientists. After a while the first Mediamatic Magazine was published; a magazine about media, art and television that was published internationally. It acquired a legendary status among those interested in the discussion around new media. From 1994 and onwards every issue was accompanied CD-ROM/DVD-ROM art.
The "Religion Issue" delves into spiritual, philosophical, and experiential themes in a technological context, without using terms like "avatar." It explores extremes of experience (e.g., under the sign of Saturn), databases of experience, and intersections of religion, media, and digital culture. Bundled with Troy Innocent's IDEA-ON>! CD-ROM, a "Database of Experience" interactive work.
Main Features / Articles:
- The Religion Issue — Editorial / Introduction (noting the absence of "avatar" and thematic framing)
- Texts on religious/philosophical extremes, media spirituality, and experiential databases.
- IDEA-ON>! — Database of Experience CD-ROM by Troy Innocent (interactive work exploring systems, experience, and digital interfaces; created as a perfect expression of certain experiential extremes).
- Additional contributions reflecting on religion, technology, and lived experience in 1996 (including pieces involving Paul Groot and others).
