Mediamatic Magazine – Exquisite 20th century media and art publication. Mediamatic was founded in 1983 as a meeting place for media, television and video artists, intellectuals and scientists. After a while the first Mediamatic Magazine was published; a magazine about media, art and television that was published internationally. It acquired a legendary status among those interested in the discussion around new media. From 1994 and onwards every issue was accompanied CD-ROM/DVD-ROM art.
Dedicated to "Storage Mania," this issue explores data overload, archives, memory, and information storage in the digital age, while incorporating early internet-sourced imagery. It also bundles the groundbreaking Doors of Perception 1 CD-ROM (from the 1993 conference on design, technology, and interactivity). Themes include virtual writing, operation re-store, and the planet under surveillance.
Main Features / Articles:
- Storage Mania — Editorial focus on data storage, archives, and information overload
- We No Longer Collect the Carrier but the Information — Interview with Tjebbe van Tijen (by Geert Lovink, on archiving politics/culture and storage practices)
