Mediamatic Magazine – Exquisite 20th century media and art publication. Mediamatic was founded in 1983 as a meeting place for media, television and video artists, intellectuals and scientists. After a while the first Mediamatic Magazine was published; a magazine about media, art and television that was published internationally. It acquired a legendary status among those interested in the discussion around new media. From 1994 and onwards every issue was accompanied CD-ROM/DVD-ROM art.

This ambitious "World Issue" aimed to cover the entire world but acknowledged the impossibility of that scope, resulting in a collection of "World Articles" that are latent or partial. It features documents, barcode culture, the decay of communication, exuberant publicness, and close encounters with global themes through fragmented, ambitious contributions reflecting on globalisation, media, and representation in the early 1990s.

Main Features / Articles:

  • The World Issue: World Articles — Editorial / Introduction (acknowledging the over-ambitious global scope)
  • Barcode Battler — David d'Heilly
  • The Decay of Communication
  • The Exuberant Publicness of the Promised World
  • Close Encounters of the ... (fragmentary global encounters)
  • Additional world articles and documents (many presented as latent or unwritten, with contributions involving Alfred Birnbaum and others).
