(Notes on index) Since the majority of typographic designers are acquainted with the sources of type supply, the index has been arranged to facilitate such reference by listing the designs under the names of Typefounders, or as Monotype faces. The names of the suppliers are given in good faith as the sources generally considered as such, or from whom the Editor received the types, or as given in other sources of reference. However, as designs are sometimes transferred from one Typefounder to another the information is given with reserve, and the Publisher cannot accept responsibility for any inadvertent errors in this list.
