(Introduction) 'It could be claimed that typographic design is the main discipline in graphics, but it has often become sterile, both in education and commercial practice. Typos hopes to draw together the strands of a rich and many-sided subject which is woven into the fabric of our culture. If we are attempting to demonstrate how exciting-and what fun - the practice of typography is, we perforce have to question much of the barren teaching and practice of the subject, the milieu in which we practice our craft, and what sort of people we are.'
