(Foreword) 'Today's competitive and fast changing commercial world makes it essential for companies to look carefully at all aspects of their products and services, their marketing operations, their advertising and publicity. All these receive a great deal of attention and there is a high level of expertise available to give advice and assistance.
Where corporate communication is concerned, however, the position is less clear. Not all management are yet fully aware of the need for serious attention to every facet of the way companies present themselves in the business world. Corporate identity is an important part of this whole picture and in the ISBA we receive a number of enquiries on the subject which show that there is room for a great deal more knowledge in this specialised field.
As the association which represents industry on all aspects of communication we have, therefore, been very glad to participate in the production of this "Guide to Corporate Identity, prepared by one of the leading companies in the field. Not everyone will agree with the views and advice in this guide, but we hope that it will stimulate discussion and action in an important management area, which companies neglect at their peril.'
