In 2006, Frere-Jones became the first American to receive the Gerrit Noordzij prize, presented by the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in honor of his unique contributions to type design, typography and type education.
A book produced by the Type and Media 08/09 class to commemorate the exhibition of Tobias Frere-Jones' work, March 2009. The book collects his work between 1987 and 2006, articles by Frere-Jones, as well as anecdotes and stories from friends/ colleagues.
