(Preface) 'Bob Gill came to London on an impulse in 1960 and British graphic design is still reverberating from the impact of his arrival. This book demonstrates how immense has been both his output and his influence during the past few years. It also reveals the unique qualities which combine to make Gill's work so exciting and so memorable; his wit, his enthusiasm, and the directness, urgency and penetrating relevance of his solutions. Over one hundred illustrations, all of them reproduced in the colours used in the original designs, are prefaced by an introduction written by Bob Gill's former partners, Alan Fletcher and Colin Forbes.
'We are not used to published collections of young designers' work. When it is as excellent as this it must be useful for students to have such a selection between two covers.' Times Educational Supplement
'The cool sense of humour that comes through in most of the designs has had a wide influence; this is combined with a literal, direct approach to graphic treatment which has punch and immediately attracts attention.' Design Magazine
