(Preface) 'Phil Carter is the creative director of design group Carter Wong. Producing this book of maverick bike lane symbols has enabled him to fulfil two of his passions, cycling and photography. Over the years, his 30-minute cycle commute to the studio has become increasingly random and lengthy as he has sought out more extreme examples of the genre further afield. The result is a record of the roadmarker's own visual eccentricity and interpretation, whether for a new bike sign or a `readymade' repair, as the Capital's roads are increasingly dug up and re-surfaced.'
