(Publishers review/translation) 'Texts by Jean Widmer, Max Bill, Margo Rouard-Snowman, Peter Knapp... Jean Widmer, graphic designer, has been creating since his arrival in France in the 1950s images that are a synthesis between abstraction and figuration, combining sensuality and style. purified. After a stint at the Jardin des modes and the Galeries Lafayette where he revolutionized graphic concepts, he devoted himself to public images.

In this area, now favoring the cultural field, he is a pioneer. He designs the signaling and animation system for the motorways in the south of France, and creates the visual identities for many cultural institutions such as the Musée d'Orsay, the Institut du monde arabe, the Conservatoire national supérieur de la musique and the dance of Paris. Through his achievements and his teaching activity, Jean Widmer trained several generations of graphic designers and continues to exert an influence on many of them today. This monograph, in which Widmer took part, testifies to the impact of his creations, in the field of visual communication, on the daily environment of the French.

A long interview between the designer and Margo Rouard-Snowman, one of his former students, irrigates this book and sheds light on his work, in a way that complements the essays written by outside personalities (graphic designers, architects and art critics). In counterpoint, a non-exhaustive inventory of his productions is accompanied by notices and commented legends.'
