(Foreword) 'Some important books on the planning of exhibitions have appeared during the last fifteen years. The first of this series of works was “Neue Ausstellungsgestaltung” (Modern Planning of Exhibitions), a publication in an up to date form in accordance with progressive tendencies regarding attitude and choice, commentary and the lay out of the book. Later some informative books on the same topic followed, among those giving guiding principles. What we are endeavouring to do in our present work is to give a survey of a series of instructive methods of planning exhibitions of recent times which may be used as a guide for the future.'
