Issues #1-6 (Complete run)

In 1989, Carson (a professional surfer who was ranked 9th globally), took on the role of art director for Surfer magazine's annual catalogue, Surfer Style.

It soon became clear to Carson and his editor, Neil Feinman, that a comprehensive transformation was necessary for the magazine. As a result, they decided to rename the publication, revamp its content, and adjust its release frequency, giving rise to Beach Culture.

Despite its brief existence from 1989 to 1991, during which it published only six quarterly issues, Beach Culture magazine achieved remarkable success, winning over 150 design awards and enabling Carson to make his first significant impact on the world of graphic design and typography.
