(Forward) 'This catalogue is being published on the occasion of the exhibition in the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, to be held from 28 September to 11 November.

The books will also be exhibited at Buchkunst International during the Frankfurt Book Fair from 3 to 8 October 1990, and at the exhibition 'Schönste Bücher aus aller Welt' in Leipzig from 1 September to 7 October 1990.

For the design of the catalogue, the CPNB Foundation, in close cooperation with the KVGO, has selected a graphic designer who is in the first phase of a professional career and who has also shown that he can deliver a high-quality product with his own vision. This year, Irma Boom was approached for this assignment.

She studied at the AKI in Enschede and has been a member of the SDU design group in recent years. Last year, the publication 'Nederlandse Postzegels 1987 en 1988', which she designed, was one of the Best Designed Books; this time, the jury selected two books that she co-designed. Recently, she was responsible for the posters and program booklets of the Holland Festival. A striking aspect of her printed matter is her handling of the specific qualities of paper in relation to text and illustrations.'
