(Preface) 'GRAPHIS ANNUAL - now in its 35th year of publication - has become a classic in advertising literature. It is numbered among those few year-books that take into account development in worldwide graphic design. Practitioners and theoreticians herewith are given an opportunity of studying the work of peers in their own region and can also see the trends taking place further afield. Opportunities too of being motivated by the various imaginative and sometimes unusual solutions and of gaining inspiration from the wide range of applications. The determining factor governing the selection was the artistic and conceptual quality of the entries--a selection which was made from over ten thousand contributions sent in from all parts of the world. A total of 601 examples of outstanding achievements are presented on 248 pages (136 in full colour). They encompass the realms of commercial advertising (consumer goods, services, etc.), general publicity (corporate identity in annual reports, firms' brochures and calendars) editorial illustration and typography, trade. marks, logos and packaging.'
