(Preface) 'If you haven't already guessed, this issue of mobilia is devoted to Swiss design. One hundred examples of good design from the alpine state, with comments by mobilia journalists. Note: we did not say the hundred best Swiss products. We make no pretence to knowing what those are. What criteria would we apply?
How sure could we be? Instead we tracked down many fine samples of the kind of thing, in its own right that could be called good Swiss design. Excellent industrial products.
If you look in vain in our pages for a particular Swiss product, it is by no means certain we have checked it reasons for our omission.
One area of design we have left quite untouched in this issue is that made up of scores of unpretentious, anonymous products we came across in everyday Switzerland. Products that seldom cause us to ask about the designer but which are nevertheless part of the overall picture of a fine cultural nation. Switzerland. May Neue Zürcher Zeitung suffice as a representative example.'

Mobilia is issued to all members of Møbelfabrikantforeningen i Danmark [The Association of Danish Furniture manufacturers], of Møbelhandlernes Centralforening i Danmark [The Association of Furniture Dealers in Denmark], and of Indendørs Arkitekt Foreningen [The Association of Interior Architects]; in Sweden a collective subscription has been taken by Sveriges Möbelindustriförbund [The Association of Swedish Furniture Manufacturers].'
