(Editors Note) 'The Editors last year made the innovation of inviting leading experts in publicity in Europe and America to collaborate with them in the choice and presentation of illustrations and the accompanying commentary. This year the same plan has been followed in principle except that Europe has been grouped together as one main section divided according to country; the other main section being provided by the United States. Mr. A. J. Greenly, Chairman of Messrs. Greenly's Ltd., has undertaken the task of arranging and commenting on the European advertisements.
It has been a special point in this issue to show why the advertisements chosen figure in this book and for this reason the formal titling has been provided in a separate index, while the caption with each illustration consists in an appraisal of its particular point and quality. This will be a singularly important feature of this issue and in view of the number of illustrations, the magnitude of the task involved will be appreciated. Instead of simply being a specimen of art work each illustration is considered and included as an advertisement on the basis of the particular aptitude it brings to the job of selling goods...'
