(Preface)'The selections presented in this latest edition of Modern Publicity, a comprehensive international anthology of the year's best graphics, have been chosen from nearly seven thousand entries, submitted by designers from thirty-eight countries.
In addition, Felix Gluck researched for further particularly interesting material, to provide an over-all view of the past year's international progress in design and applied photography.
Graphic art is the crucial element in a great variety of media, and the material in this issue includes posters, press advertisements, type faces, books, trademarks and house styles, packaging and record sleeves, coordinated campaigns, direct-mail advertising, calendars, company reports, TV graphics, and postage-stamp designs.
A valuable Index provides the names and addresses of some of the best designers, art directors, and studios, and has contributed in making Modern Publicity a standard reference work for all whose work is connected with advertising, publicity, publishing, or design education.'

Modern Publicity, Art & Industry's International Annual of Advertising Art was a highly influential annual publication that showcased the best in international advertising art from the 1920s through the 1980s. Published by The Studio Publications (later Studio Vista) in London and New York, it served as a critical resource for advertisers, artists, designers, and industry professionals by presenting a curated selection of outstanding commercial art from around the world. Initially titled Posters and Publicity and earlier Posters and Their Designers (starting in 1924), it evolved into Modern Publicity by 1930, reflecting a broader focus on various forms of advertising beyond just posters, including press advertisements, direct mail, packaging, showcards, brochures, and trademarks.
