(Introduction) 'Introducing a book is always an arduous task and truly, as a famous writer once said, « One never quite knows how to begin ». In this case however it might perhaps suffice to simply start from the title « Printed in Italy ». This is clearly a play on words with a touch of irony yet nevertheless quite fitting. The information conveyed by the title is perfectly correct: the book has indeed been printed in Italy. If however one believes that the title of a book should throw some light on its contents, then the assumption might be that this title is in fact a tautology, in the true meaning of the word, that is an illusive definition that does not enlighten us further, that adds nothing to what we already know or to what we could discover at once by simply flipping through the first pages...'
