(Introduction/Translation) 'In post-war Polish visual art, the poster occupied a unique, life. It would be no exaggeration to say that this visual art discipline became a Polish specialty, a particularly vibrant, creative, and ambitious field. To briefly summarise the entire, rather complicated, process of birthing a new form of poster, it is necessary to mention several factors that played a decisive role in this process.

The first of these was the change in political and social relations, which generated a demand for posters related to the issues of these changes in our country, as well as for informational posters, especially within the framework of a broad program of cultural dissemination. The second factor was the initiative of graphic designers themselves, who were able to take advantage of the situation to enhance the artistic values of the poster. Their talent, ambition, and consistency in achieving their goals are responsible for the almost complete elimination of worthless solutions...'
