(Foreword/Translation) 'The National Museum in Warsaw has often had the opportunity to exhibit Polish posters abroad. Highly regarded by art critics and sought after by collectors, Polish posters have garnered significant attention in almost all major centres of contemporary art.

We have primarily presented thematic exhibitions of our renowned poster designers, and less frequently, group exhibitions of several artists. These exhibitions have conveyed the Polish poster as an artistic phenomenon that has existed and evolved for over 80 years. Therefore, I would like to emphasise that this exhibition—prepared for the Berlin University of the Arts—is the most comprehensive presentation of Polish posters abroad, and the accompanying catalog is one of the most detailed works on Polish posters ever published outside of Poland.

The exhibition of such a large number of representative exhibits was only possible thanks to the extraordinarily rich collections of Polish posters, amassed over many years, which are owned by the National Museum and have been scientifically cataloged in our department, the Poster Museum in Wilanów. This department was the first institution in the world to specialise in collecting, exhibiting, and conducting scholarly research on posters. As a result, the museum in Wilanów now boasts more than 30,000 posters...'
