(Preface) 'This is the sixth annual of the Design and Art Direction exhibition held at the new Nash House Gallery in the Mall, London. Each year a professional group of designers are asked το select the best of British graphics. After five successful years D&AD has become the most important influence in British graphics, typography, advertising, television commercials, TV graphics, packaging and print today.
Each year the annual shows the development of graphic communications in this country, and, since the first annual in 1964, has without doubt influenced present day trends.
It is regarded as the only definitive handbook of British creative talent, referred to not only in the UK but in America and throughout Europe. The Duke of Edinburgh, in the foreword to the D&AD show in New York, 'It's Great! Britain', wrote: 'In this exhibition are collected the works of some of Britain's most talented designers in the graphic arts'.
The '68 annual has been enlarged to give, for the first time, each item a page to itself - therefore enabling those studying the development of British graphics to get a better understanding of the work represented in these pages.'
