Atlas Magazine 4 is the final issue of Jake Tilson’s highly regarded independent artists’ magazine, published in 1993 by The Woolley Dale Press in an edition of 2000 copies.

Tilson, a British artist, designer, and publisher, created Atlas (1985–1993) as a vibrant, eccentric, and multimedia arts publication blending travel, sound, visual experimentation, and eclectic content. Issue 4 stands out for its experimental production using offset litho and Xerox printing, along with unique physical inserts including a specially produced 80-minute audio CD titled Found Sounds / Sonidos Reunidos — a collection of roadside cassette tape scraps Tilson recorded in eight cities.

The issue features contributions from notable figures such as Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), artist Richard Wentworth, painter Maria Chevska, and others, mixing art, music, found materials, and multilingual texts (English, Spanish, Japanese). Like previous issues, it embodies post-punk, art-school energy with inventive design, textures, and an adventurous, armchair-traveler spirit. It remains a cult item among collectors of 1990s artist magazines and experimental graphic design.
