(Preface) 'David Wild - Spent earliest years following his seagoing father to Scotland, the USA and Ceylon, before returning to England, and first flying with airforce cadets while at Portsmouth Grammar School. Studied architecture at Portsmouth and the Architectural Association, then worked for several firms before independent practice, teaching and writing. His photographs of sixties America, taken while working there, have been widely published (Downbeat, TransAction, Paul Oliver's Story of the blues). Entered politics during the Vietnam war, producing and distributing 20,000 LF flagbags to raise money for medical aid. Designed and edited outside-left architectural magazine ARse (1969-72), and designed the first Big Red Diary (1974). Own self-built house in Camden, north London; given Civic Trust Award in 1985. After many articles and reviews on architecture, this is his first book.'
