Organised as a dedicated mid-century monographic exhibition, the 1959 "Lurçat" show at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam celebrated the sweeping creative range of French artist Jean Lurçat across multiple mediums. Running from January 15 to February 15, this retrospective highlighted his foundational role in reviving medieval art traditions and modernising them through magnificent tapestries (wandtapijten), gouaches, and paintings (schilderijen). The accompanying promotional materials were designed personally by museum director Willem Sandberg.
