Organised as a multi-exhibition seasonal calendar, the 1957 spring program at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam dynamically grouped several concurrent solo and group presentations together under one roof. Running through April and May, the overlapping schedule combined highly anticipated showcases of British sculptor Lynn Chadwick and painter Ivon Hitchens with specialised exhibits like Johannes Itten's color theories and the structural "Ark" church architecture survey. The accompanying promotional materials were designed personally by museum director Willem Sandberg.
