(Preface) It has become evident that graphic design is now being used to a far greater extent in all forms of visual communication. The exhibition Graphic Design Britain 70 was created to show just how many and how varied these forms are. If successful, such an event could become an annual occasion. Particularly welcome was the wide cross-section of sources from which material was contributed. Some of these are established advertising agencies and design units, some individuals who have only recently begun 'doing their own thing'. Together they enable us to show a variety of work that adds up to Graphic Design Britain 70. All the work reproduced in this book was first shown at an exhibition in De La Rue House Regent Street London during March 1970. The panel wish to thank all those who submitted work and Wiggins Teape for their help in promoting the exhibition and producing this book.
