(Foreword) 'This retrospective exhibition of the work of the Kelpra Studio is a gesture of heartfelt thanks on the part of the Tate to Rose and Chris Prater. We hope that it will be a fitting commemoration of their achievements over the past twenty years. The Prater gift, from which the exhibition has been drawn, was one of the founding gifts of the Gallery's Print Collection, and any consideration of the works it contains makes it clear that art in this country would be very much the poorer if Chris Prater had not been dedicated to the idea that screen-printing could be a fertile medium for artists' prints. The Tate has also benefited from his belief that we should, as the national collection of modern art, endorse the artists' work by thorough representation in our collection. Chris Prater himself has devoted a great deal of time and effort to this exhibition and without him it would not have been possible.'
